Back at the studio during Spring Break, Kevin Justmann, 24, the bass player for John French and The Bastilles, recorded all the bass for the record. Justmann has been in the band for the past two years and says he hopes the record turns out to be something that will allow him to quit his job he has now.

Recording :: Day 2

Wednesday, March 7th, 2012

It’s a lot of work to mix and master an album. John French, 21, said that it took the band a while to find someone they trusted who could mix their album the way they wanted. That man is Paul Reeves. Reeves owns his own recording studio, Domus Sound, where most of the John French and The Bastilles’ tracks are made.

Paul Reeves is the producer of Domus Sound in Athens, Ga.

Change

Changing my idea…

Two reasons: first, it is harder than I thought to find a high school dropout. Second, when I finally found one, she didn’t like the idea of me following her around even when I explained to her I’m not here to mock or make fun of her.

So, for my new semester long project, a local band just finished raising $11,000 to make their next album. This is basically their last shot at trying to “make it big.” I am going to follow them into the recording studio as well as when they do concerts and things for their followers.

Hope to have some images up by the end of this week.

Issues

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

As of right now, I have two ideas that I feel are big issues.

The first: Homelessness. This is a very broad issue that I would somehow have to narrow down to a particular person but it would be very interesting to try.

The second: Life of a High School Dropout. I don’t know for sure, but I believe Clarke County has a very high dropout rate. I would like to find a recent dropout and follow him/her around for the semester.

These are the only two I have come up with so far. Let me know what you think.

Introduction

Thursday, January 12th, 2012

How to start?

My name is Stephen Terry. I’m the middle son of a prison warden and a preschool director/teacher. I have lived in eight different cities in Georgia. And, I want to be a journalist.

I’ll go ahead and say that I really enjoy taking photos, making videos, interviewing people. I would say that there is so much I need to improve on, but come on, who doesn’t? I’m pumped about working with Final Cut Pro again. One, because I understand it better than I did a year ago, and two, I like making videos.

Like Forrest Gump once said, “That’s all I got to say about that.”
